Doors Part 1

GOD’S OPEN DOOR

Many of us know, deep down, that the life we are living is not the life we could be living.

Psalm 139:16 (NIV) Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

What do you do when you know, “There is no way the life I’m living is the life God wrote for me.”

Revelation 3:7-8 (NIV) What he [God] opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut.

If you find yourself off course, you need to know that God has given you an open door.

Ephesians 5:17 (NIV) Be very careful, then, how you live–not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.

FINDING THE RIGHT DOORS

God’s will (His doors) is bordered by three things.

  • God’s moral will. What God has already revealed in the Bible.
  • God’s sovereign will. What God is currently doing on the earth.
  • God’s individual will. What God is currently doing in your life.

Romans 12:2 (NIV) Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

The Christian journey is not to do what we want and ask God to bless it. The journey is to line our life up with what God has planned for us, serving Him whole heartedly, and living the life we were destined for.

GETTING BACK ON TRACK

The first thing you need to know is, “It does not matter how far away you are from God.” God loves you and wants to reach you. He wants to free you and repurpose your life.

Isaiah 30:21 (NIV) Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”

1. What am I doing that I should not be doing?

(Get yourself on the right course morally.)

Proverbs 4:25-27 (NIV) Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you. Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm. Do not swerve to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.

2. What am I not doing that I should be doing?

(Get yourself on the right course sovereignly.)

James 4:17 (NIV) Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins.

3. Why not do it today?

(Get yourself on the right course individually.)

2 Corinthians 6:2 (NIV) In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you. I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.
