TIME SPENT IN GOD’S PRESENCE
“We are too busy to pray, and so we are too busy to have power.” – R.A. Torrey
Luke 6:17-19 (NIV) He [Jesus] went down with them and stood on a level place. A large crowd of his disciples was there and a great number of people from all over Judea, from Jerusalem, and from the coastal region around Tyre and Sidon, who had come to hear him and to be healed of their diseases. Those troubled by impure spirits were cured, and the people all tried to touch him, because power was coming from him and healing them all.
. . . Everyone just wanted to touch him, because when they did it was like high voltage power shot out of him and into them and they were healed. – AUSSIE
. . . Out from him was coming power that was healing everyone. – LDB
Jesus—our pattern—shows us what time spent in God’s presence can do.
John 10:30 (CW) My Father and I are so close, we’re one.
The secret to a supernatural life is intimacy with the Father.
Acts 5:12-16 (NIV) The apostles performed many signs and wonders among the people . . . more and more men and women believed in the Lord and were added to their number. As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter’s shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by. Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by impure spirits, and all of them were healed.
These miracles sound like Jesus’s miracles; but, they were preformed by believers who spent time in God’s presence.
Acts 19:11-12 (NIV) God did extraordinary miracles through Paul, so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them.
Reverend John G. Lake, talking about the bubonic plague in Africa, stated: “Because we possessed the Spirit of Life, I and a little Dutch fellow with me went out and buried many of the people who had died from the bubonic plague. We went into the homes and carried them out, dug the graves, and put them in . . . . We never took the disease. Why? Because the knowledge of the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus protected us. That law was working. Because of the fact that a man by the action of his will puts himself purposely in contact with God, faith takes possession of the heart . . . . Instead of being fearful, he is full of faith. Instead of being absorbent and drawing everything to himself, his spirit repels sickness and disease. The Spirit of Christ flows through the whole being and emanates through the hands, the heart, and from every pore of the body.”
Eternal life, in sufficient measure, repels sin, sickness, and satan. Receiving eternal life in sufficient measure means you’ve spent time in God’s presence until God’s life is overflowing within you.
Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV) Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.
Matthew 14:23 (NKJV) When He [Jesus] had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray.
Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
Jesus knew that connection with the Father was eternal life.
John 17:3 (NKJV) This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
Daily contact with God will change your life forever.
