WHAT HEAVEN WILL BE LIKE
In order to understand “life in Heaven,” we first need to clarify Jesus’s words to the Sadducees.
Luke 20:34-36 (EXB) “On earth, people [ The children of this age] marry and are given to someone to marry. But those who will be worthy to be raised from the dead and live again [of the age to come and the resurrection] will not marry, nor will they be given to someone to marry. [For] In that life they are like [or equal to] angels and cannot die.”
- V Starts a new age—the Church Age.
- V Saints go to Heaven (2 Cor. 5:8).
- V Saints are like angels (Luke 20:36).
- V Saints cannot marry or have children while in Heaven (Luke 20:35).
The Second Coming
- V Starts a new age—the Millennial Age.
- X Saints in Heaven return to earth (1 Thess. 3:13).
- X Saints are like Jesus, glorified, & judging angels (1 Cor. 6:3).
- X Saints can marry and have children after they return to earth (Jer. 33:11).
Jeremiah 33:3-17 (NLT) Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come, says the Lord . . . . The joyful voices of bridegrooms and brides will be heard again . . . . David will have a descendant [Jesus] sitting on the throne of Israel forever.
Psalm 128:1-6 (NEB) Happy are all who fear the Lord, who live according to his will. You shall eat the fruit of your own labours, you shall be happy and you shall prosper. Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine in the heart of your house; your sons shall be like olive-shoots round about your table. This is the blessing in store for the man who fears the Lord. May the Lord bless you from Zion.
Isaiah 54:1-4 (MSG) “Sing, barren woman, who has never had a baby. Fill the air with song, you who’ve never experienced childbirth! You’re ending up with far more children than all those childbearing women.” God says so! “Clear lots of ground for your tents! Make your tents large. Spread out! Think big! Use plenty of rope, drive the tent pegs deep. You’re going to need lots of elbow room for your growing family. You’re going to take over whole nations; you’re going to resettle abandoned cities. Don’t be afraid—you’re not going to be embarrassed [disappointed].
In Heaven all wrongs are made right.
Isaiah 33:20-24 (ICB) Look at [the New] Jerusalem, the city of our festivals [celebrations, feasts, parties]. Look at Jerusalem, that beautiful place of rest [peaceful, carefree dwelling, safe] . . . . There the Lord will be our Mighty One. That land is a place with streams and wide rivers. But there will be no enemy boats on those rivers [no war, no park rangers] . . . . This is because the Lord is our judge [no broken judicial system]. The Lord makes our laws [no unjust, outdated, or oppressive laws]. The Lord is our king . . . . No one living in [the New] Jerusalem will say, “I am sick.”
74.4% of those who’ve had a near death experience say, when they left their body, they had heightened senses. In Heaven we will have super sight, hearing, smell, travel at the speed of thought (Jn 20:19), light will radiate from us (Dan 12:3), and we cannot die (1 Cor 15:42). We’re basically superheroes!
Isaiah 65:17-25 (ICB) “I will make new heavens and a new earth. And people will not remember the past. They will not think about those things. My people will be happy forever because of the things I will make. I will make a Jerusalem that is full of joy . . . . There will never again be crying and sadness in that city. There will never be a baby from that city who lives only a few days . . . . The person who dies before he is 100 will be thought of as a sinner. In that city the person who builds a house will live there [no foreclosures or eviction] . . . . My chosen people will live there and enjoy the things they make. People will never again work for nothing . . . . My people and their children will be blessed. I will provide for their needs before they ask. I will help them while they are still asking for help [no spiritual battle]. Wolves and lambs will eat together in peace. Lions will eat hay like oxen. A snake on the ground will not hurt anyone. They will not hurt or destroy each other on all my holy mountain,” says the Lord.
Isaiah 54:13 (ICB) All your children will be taught by the Lord. And they will have much peace [no broken school systems, bullying, or suicide].
Can you imagine it! A world with no sickness, disease (Isaiah 33:24), poverty, lack (Psalms 106:4-5), sorrow, or death (Revelation 21:4). Living life in a glorified body never again to be touched by sickness, disease, weakness, or pain (Philippians 3:20-21). Having children, with no pain (Isaiah 65:23), and raising them in an Earth where nothing will hurt or harm them (Isaiah 11:8-9). Watching our children grow up, get married (Jeremiah 33:11), and have kids of their own (Ezekiel 37:25-27)—knowing they’ll never experience abuse, abandonment, rejection, adultery, or divorce. Living forever in the presence of God (Psalm 102:25-28).
