In this series we are addressing three “big” questions:
- Am I experiencing what I should experience with God?
- Are my prayers being answered?
- Am I getting the results I should in my walk with God?
Am I being flesh dominated or am I being spirit-led.
Romans 8:14 (ERV) The true children of God are those who let God’s Spirit lead them.
- The world is led by the flesh.
- Religion is led by the law.
- God’s children are led by God’s Spirit.
Galatians 5:1, 15-16 (MIRROR) Christ defines your faith; He is your freedom from anything the law could never free you from! Find your footing in this freedom. Do not let religion trip you up again and harness you to a system of rules and obligations [outward observances] . . . . The best efforts under the legalistic mind-set sooner or later end up in strife: back-biting, tearing one another apart, devouring and consuming one another. It gets ugly . . . . I conclude: let God’s Spirit be the dominant influence in your daily walk and see how it defeats the cravings of flesh.
John 15:4-5 (JOHN) Stay in relationship with me as I will with you. Just as no offshoot from the vine can produce fruit by itself, neither can you unless you stay in an open relationship with me. I am the vine; you are the offshoots from me. The person who stays in a relationship with me, and I in a relation with him, will be very fruitful; but severed from me he will be barren.
The minute you accept Jesus into your heart to be your Lord and Savior, God begins to lead and guide you.
John 16:13 (NKJV) When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
THE BENEFITS OF FOLLOWING GOD’S SPIRIT
Deuteronomy 28:2 (AMP) All these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you if you heed the voice of the Lord your God.
Job 36:11 (KJV) If they obey and serve him [God], they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.
Galatians 5:16 (NKJV) Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
HOW DO I START
James 1:5-8 (TLB) If you want to know what God wants you to do, ask him, and he will gladly tell you, for he is always ready to give a bountiful supply of wisdom to all who ask him; he will not resent it. But when you ask him, be sure that you really expect him to tell you, for a doubtful mind will be as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind; and every decision you then make will be uncertain . . . . If you don’t ask with faith, don’t expect the Lord to give you any solid answer.
