The Armor of God Part 4

THE SANDALS OF PEACE

Ephesians 6:11-15 (NIV) Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes . . . that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

  • Helmet of Salvation—restores our image of God.
  • Breastplate of Righteousness—restores our image of self.
  • Belt of Truth—restores our image of others.

The ultimate battle we are in is a battle over nations.

Acts 10:34-36 (BSB) Then Peter began to speak: “I now truly understand that God does not show favoritism, but welcomes those from every nation who fear Him and do what is right. He has sent this message to the people of Israel, proclaiming the gospel of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.”

Isaiah 52:7-10 (NKJV) How beautiful upon the mountains [kingdoms and nations] are the feet of him who brings good news [Gospel], Who proclaims peace, Who brings glad tidings of good things, Who proclaims salvation . . . . And all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.

What is the Gospel of Peace? It is God’s covenant of peace.

Isaiah 54:9-10 (NKJV) “For this is like the waters of Noah to Me; for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth, so have I sworn that I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you. For the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed, but My kindness shall not depart from you, nor shall My covenant of peace be removed”, says the Lord.

Isaiah 54:14-15 (KJV) “In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee. Behold, they [who bring calamity] shall surely gather together [against thee], but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.”

. . . Don’t for a moment suppose that I sent them. – MSG

Isaiah 54:17 (NKJV) “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment You [Jesus] shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,” says the Lord.

God wants this message to cover the earth—bringing the earth into peace, but first this message must cover your life—bringing you into peace.

2 Corinthians 5:20 (TLB) We are Christ’s ambassadors. God is using us to speak to you: we beg you, as though Christ himself were here pleading with you, receive the love he offers you—be reconciled to God.

In a battle, “ready” feet do 3 things:

  1. Get you out of danger.
  2. Position you to strike back.
  3. Make you hit harder.

Good footwork leaves your opponent punching thin air.

Ephesians 3:6 (MSG) The mystery is that people who have never heard of God and those who have heard of him all their lives (what I’ve been calling outsiders and insiders) stand on the same ground before God. They get the same offer, same help, same promises in Christ Jesus.

Galatians 2:21 (LAU) I will not be so foolish as to refuse the mercy which God offered me.

2 Corinthians 5:20 (BARCLAY) He placed upon us the privilege of taking to men who are hostile to Him [enemies] this offer of His friendship.
