The Armor of God Part 6

The Armor of God Part 6

Ephesians 6:11-17 (NIV) Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

John 16:13-14 (NIV) When he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears . . . . It is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.

The written Word of God [the Bible] and the spoken Word of God [what the Holy Spirit speaks] are both equally the Word of God. However, both are NOT the Sword of God’s Spirit.

Hebrews 4:12 (NIV) For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Deuteronomy 33:29 (GNT) The Lord himself is your shield and your sword, to defend you and give you victory.

. . . He is your protecting shield and your triumphant sword! – NLT

Judges 7:2-22 (NKJV) The Lord said to Gideon, “The people who are with you are too many for Me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel claim glory for itself against Me, saying, ‘My own hand has saved me.’ Now therefore, proclaim in the hearing of the people, saying, ‘Whoever is fearful and afraid, let him turn and depart at once from Mount Gilead.’” And twenty-two thousand of the people returned, and ten thousand remained. But the Lord said to Gideon, “The people are still too many” . . . . 7“By the three hundred men who lapped I will save you, and deliver the Midianites into your hand . . . . 16Then he [Gideon] divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet into every man’s hand, with empty pitchers, and torches inside the pitchers . . . . 20Then the three companies blew the trumpets and broke the pitchers—they held the torches in their left hands and the trumpets in their right hands for blowing—and they cried, “The sword of the Lord and of Gideon!” And every man stood in his place all around the camp; and the whole army ran and cried out and fled. When the three hundred blew the trumpets, the Lord set every man’s sword against his companion throughout the whole camp; and the army fled.

The army of Gideon never needed a sword; God was their sword. They gained victory by following, praising, and being on fire.

Psalm 20:6-7 (NIV) Now this I know: The Lord gives victory to his anointed. He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of his right hand. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.

1 Corinthians 15:57 (NIV) But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 John 5:4 (NIV) Everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.

We believe God will lead us from victory to victory. So we follow Him, praise Him, and stay on fire for Him.

2 Corinthians 2:14 (NLV) We thank God for the power Christ has given us [the Holy Spirit]. He leads us and makes us win in everything. He speaks through us wherever we go.

Romans 8:14 (NKJV) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

It’s time we honor God’s Word internally as much as we honor God’s Word externally.

John 10:27 (CEV) My sheep know my voice, and I know them. They follow me.

John 4:24 (CEV) God is Spirit, and those who worship God must be led by the Spirit to worship him according to the truth.

The Sword of the Spirit is doing what God’s Spirit says to do.
