The Power of Patience

The Power of Patience

THE POWER OF PATIENCE

Luke 8:11-15 (NKJV ) The parable is this: The seed is the word of God. Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.

The kingdom of darkness is going to:

  1. Keep you distracted.
  2. Try your patience.

Hebrews 6:10-12 (NKJV) For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister [God hasn’t forgotten]. And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end [don’t stop], that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Why? Because God’s word is seed! It will grow!

Romans 15:4 (NKJV) For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.

  • Abraham – had to wait 1 year for God’s promise.
  • Joshua & Caleb – had to wait 40 years for God’s promise.
  • Noah – had to wait 55–75 years while building the Ark.

Luke 21:19 (COVERDALE) Hold fast your souls with patience.

James 1:2-4 (NKJV) My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

When trials come—keep planting—keep watering—keep trusting that God is giving the increase! Just keep on sowing seed.

Psalms 18:37 (NCV) I chased my enemies and caught them. I did not quit until they were destroyed.

  • Don’t quit until that cancer is destroyed
  • Don’t quit until your marriage is restored.
  • Don’t quit until your entire family is saved.
  • Don’t quit until you own no man anything but to love them.

1 Timothy 6:11-12 (NKJV) But you, O man of God . . . pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience . . . . Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were called.

Patience has to be part of our fight. The best fighters know how to be patient. The best fighters know how to wait for the right opportunities. They’ve trained to go all 12 rounds!

I’m not quitting on God! I’m not giving up on God! I’m going to go the distance!

Colossians 1:9-12 (NKJV) For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be . . . strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.

Satan cannot hurt us, but by our own hands. Satan could not hurt us, if our own corruption did not betray us. Afflictions cannot hurt us, without our own impatience. Impatience creates suffering.
