The Prayer Advantage

The Prayer Advantage

THE PRAYER ADVANTAGE

James 5:16 (NLB) Prayer from the heart [spirit] of a man right with God has much power.

. . . makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]. – AMP

John 16:7 (AMP) I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor, Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him (the Holy Spirit) to you [to be in close fellowship with you].

We tap into God’s advantage through humility and yieldedness.

  • Humility – “God, I need your help (grace).”
  • Yieldedness – “I’m willing to submit to you.”

Romans 5:2 (AMP) Through Him [Jesus] we also have access by faith [yieldedness] into this [remarkable state of] grace [God’s help] in which we [firmly and safely and securely] stand. Let us rejoice in our hope and the confident assurance of [experiencing and enjoying] the glory of [our great] God [the manifestation of His excellence and power].

How does this relate to prayer?

Acts 2:4 (WE) All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit. They began to speak the words of God in other languages as the Spirit spoke through them.

Romans 8:26 (CW) The Holy Spirit is always ready to help us. [At times] we don’t even know how we should pray or what we really need, and when we think we do, we don’t know how to say it right. The Holy Spirit takes our deepest emotions and longings and puts them into the beautiful language of heaven, pleading with God for us as if we were right there.

James 5:16 (NLB+AMP) Prayer from the heart [spirit] of a man right with God . . . makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].

1 Corinthians 14:14 (BASIC) If I make use of tongues in my prayers, my spirit makes the prayer, but not my mind.

. . . My spirit [by the Holy Spirit within me] prays . . . – AMP

All that is required is humility and yeildedness.

“God, I need your help and I’m willing to surrender . . . even if I don’t fully understand.”

  • Naaman the Leper – Why should I wash in a dirty river 7 times?
  • Gideon – Why should I shrink my army from 32,000 to 300 men?
  • Lazarus – Why should I open the tomb?
  • Tongues – Why should I speak words I don’t understand?

1 Corinthians 3:18-20 (LDB) Don’t fool yourself! If you consider yourself to be wise, don’t hesitate to be a fool in the opinion of the people of this age, in order that you may be truly wise. Because God looks at the “wisdom” of this world as utter nonsense . . . . The Lord knows how the wise reason, and how wrong and worthless that reasoning is.

Isaiah 28:11-12 (NKJV) With stammering lips and another tongue will He speak to this people. To whom He said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.
