What Matters Most Part 1

What Matters Most Part 1

CHRIST IN HUMAN HEARTS

Philippians 1:9 (CP) This I pray: that your love may keep growing until you have such understanding and keen perception that you can sort out the truly important matters.

I want you to understand what matters most!

What Mattered to the Pharisees

The Bible mentions THREE main things the Pharisees loved.

  1. Money. Pharisees loved money! Money drove their decisions. If lying meant more money – they’d lie! Money mattered most.

Luke 16:13-14 (NIV) “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” The Pharisees, who loved money, heard all this and were sneering at Jesus.

  • What drives your decisions?
  • Does money matter most?
  • Does pleasing God matter most?

Philippians 4:19 (KJV) My God shall supply all your needs.

Psalm 23:1 (KJV) The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

Deuteronomy 8:18 (NIRV) God gives you the ability to produce wealth.

Proverbs 21:5 (NLT) Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty.

  1. Praise. Pharisees loved being exalted! They love titles, recognition, and being treated as superior. Praise mattered most.

Luke 11:43 (TPT) You Pharisees are hypocrites! You love to be honored before others with titles of respect, seeking public recognition, aspiring to seem more important than others.

  • Does praise matter most?
  • Do people matter most?
  • Is it about you or is it about people?
  1. Control. This is why the Pharisees crucified Jesus.

John 12:18-19 (MSG) The crowd swelled to a welcoming parade. The Pharisees took one look and threw up their hands: “It’s out of control. The world’s in a stampede after him.”

What Mattered Most to Jesus?

John 3:3 (NLT) I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.

  • Jesus didn’t say you had to be perfect to come to God.
  • He didn’t say you had to be sinless to come to God.
  • You just need to be born again.

Galatians 6:15 (WAY) Circumcision is nothing, uncircumcision is nothing; the creation within us of a new nature is everything.

. . . all that matters is that we have new life through our living connection with Jesus. – SC

. . . the transforming power of this new creation. – TPT

All that matters is that you’ve been connected to Jesus and His transforming power is working in you!

Colossians 1:27 (TLB) God has kept this secret for centuries and generations past, but now at last it has pleased him to tell it to those who love him and live for him . . . . this is the secret: Christ in your hearts is your only hope of glory.

Philippians 2:13 (NKJV) It is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

Hebrews 13:20-21 (KJV) May the God of peace . . . make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:10 (KJV) For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works.

Philippians 1:6 (NLV) I am sure that God Who began the good work in you will keep on working in you until the day Jesus Christ comes again.

Hebrews 12:2 (KJV) Look unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.

The Pharisees taught traditions that made God’s word of no effect. Tradition that took their EYES OFF of Jesus!

1 Thessalonians 2:13 (TLV) We thank God constantly that when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it truly is—the word of God, which does its work in you who believe.

Will you allow God to work in your life? How? Believe He is at work.

John 6:28-29 (KJV) “What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?” Jesus answered and said unto them, “This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.”

Philemon 1:6 (NKJV) Your faith becomes effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

TRUST IN GOD’S WORK! That’s why I pray, worship, read my Bible! Every moment I spend with God I know He is changing me from the inside out!
