Philippians 1:9 (CP) This I pray: that your love [agape] may keep growing until you have such understanding and keen perception that you can sort out the truly important matters.
Matthew 28:18-20 (TLB) Jesus told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and earth. Therefore go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and then teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you; and be sure of this—I am with you always, even to the end of the world.”
HOW DO WE MAKE DISCIPLES?
- Immersion into the reality of the New Birth – Week 1.
- Teach them to obey the commands I gave you – Week 2.
- Commission them to go.
According to Jesus, you are commission ready the moment you are born again and start pursing a life of love!
Philippians 1:15-18 (SCHODER) Some preach Christ from motives that involve envy and rivalry, others from friendly good intentions . . . . What of it? All that matters is that in any and every way, whether hypocritically or sincerely, Christ is being proclaimed! That brings me joy.
Messing up is better than being silent!
Philippians 1:18 (Brandt) God has not given up on our world. He is here and sometimes because of us, sometimes in spite of us, He is working out His purposes in our world.
Romans 10:14 (MSG) How can people call for help if they don’t know who to trust? And how can they know who to trust if they haven’t heard of the One who can be trusted? And how can they hear if nobody tells them? . . . Before you trust, you have to listen. Unless Christ’s Word is preached, there’s nothing to listen to.
Galatians 5:6 (CEV) If you are a follower of Christ Jesus, it makes no difference whether you are circumcised or not. All that matters is your faith that makes you love others.
ANSWERING GOD’S CALL
Acts 20:22-24 (MSG) I feel compelled to go to Jerusalem. I’m completely in the dark about what will happen when I get there. I do know that it won’t be any picnic, for the Holy Spirit has let me know repeatedly and clearly that there are hard times and imprisonment ahead. But that matters little. What matters most to me is to finish what God started: the job the Master Jesus gave me of letting everyone I meet know all about this incredibly extravagant generosity of God.
1. “I feel compelled to go.”
- I have a burden for . . .
- I am passionate about . . .
- I feel compassion for . . .
2. “I’m completely in the dark.”
I don’t know what will happen.
3. “I know . . . hard times . . . are ahead.”
I know this will require sacrifice. It is not always easy, but it is always worth it!
4. “What matters most to me is to finish.”
I will be tempted to quit. But I will NOT quit! It’s not about what I start, it’s about what I finish.
5. “The job . . . letting everyone I meet know about . . . God.”
Your race is to share Jesus with everyone you meet.
2 Timothy 4:4 (DIST) People who do not hear the Word of God regularly will grow fond of the devil’s lies. So never go to sleep on the job.
